Because football analysts need to have something to do over the summer. And yes, we know Moneyball is a lazy and not very accurate expression for anything related to sports analytics, but the name sounded kinda cool.

Pleasantries out of the way, let’s talk analytics. On this blog and the @kroneball twitter account we’ll give you weekly Expected Goals (xG) sums from all of the Eliteserien games this season and we’ll also track the Expected Goals (xG), Expected Assists (xA) and Expected Secondary Assists (xSA? xAA? We’ll think of something) of all players, in addition to their, you know, actual goals, assists and secondary assists.

If we got the time, we’ll even try to give some fancy graphs showing shot and passing locations and everything else that pricks our interests enough to try and analyse it using the available information .

We’re able to do all this thanks to our co-operation with Stratabet, who is providing us with all the data we’ll be using this season.

There is an ever expanding football analytics world out there and we hope you’ll enjoy this little ‘Norwegian football in English’ corner of it; while it’s very small, it’s ours and you’re more than welcome to join us.
